Helfried Pfeifer (1896-1970)
Member of the National Council (1949-1956 for the WdU and 1956 to 1959 for the FPÖ)
Helfried Pfeifer studied law at the universities of Vienna and Innsbruck. He taught constitutional and administrative law from 1935, first as a lecturer, later as a university professor at Vienna University. After the Second World War, he was dismissed from university service.
From 1949 to 1956, Helfried Pfeifer was a member of the National Council for the WdU (Electoral Party of Independents / League of Independents, or VdU) and from 1956 to 1959 for the FPÖ. He launched numerous initiatives for the abolition of the special legislation that applied to former National Socialists, as well as for reforms of democracy and of the rule of law. Pfeifer is the author of numerous scholarly articles on international law and legal reforms.
