Start of the Europe Academy 2023/24
Module I: Fundamentals of the European Union
From 06-07 October 2023, the 1st module of the Europe Academy, already organized for the fourth time by the Freedom Education Institute, took place. Under the general topic "Basics of the European Union", the participants learned on the first day of the seminar from course leader Dietmar Holzfeind about the institutions and bodies of the EU, such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council or the European Court of Justice, as well as the influence of EU legislation on national parliaments. Furthermore, an overview of the political groups in the European Parliament was given. As a guest speaker, Ms. Petra Steger gave a lecture about her work as European spokesperson of the FPÖ in the National Council.
On the 2nd day of the seminar, the topic "EU asylum and migration policy" was discussed. The participants were given a current overview of the refugee situation in the EU.
