Peace policy and the arms race
Lecture held by retired General Mag. DI. Günther Greindl
As part of a lecture event organized by the Freiheitliche Bildungsinstitut and the Liberale Klub on June 11, retired General DI. Günther Greindl spoke about “Peace policy and the arms race”. Greindl warned against a rearmament of the West. This would lead to a new arms race. He considered the outsourcing of European defense to NATO to be a serious mistake. The EU (and Austria with it) was on the wrong path in terms of security policy, which was not in the interests of Europeans. General Greindl called for Austria to be credibly neutral again. Being neutral meant being committed to an active peace policy. This includes effective national defense, including its own air defense and an operational militia.
The President of the Liberal Club, Dr. Wolfgang Baumann, also emphasized that comprehensive national defence (ULV) must be seriously reactivated.
