Under the title "Cash and the Digital Euro: Where Is the Journey Heading?", the Political Academy of the Freedom Party of Austria invited guests to a panel discussion in Neunkirchen on 9 March 2026. "Public interest in the topic of cash is enormous, as this event demonstrates," said FPÖ consumer protection spokesperson MP Peter Wurm, who was part of the distinguished panel. In addition to Wurm, the discussion featured MP Dr. Barbara Kolm, former Vice President of the General Council of the Austrian National Bank, and Josef Binder, initiator of the popular initiative "For Unrestricted Cash Payments." The evening was opened by State Parliament Member Helmut Fiedler. At the end of the discussion, MP Peter Wurm emphasized that the FPÖ will continue to advocate for the preservation of cash and for its enshrinement in the constitution.
